Redmi is preparing to launch its highly anticipated K80 series smartphones, including the K80 and K80 Pro models, in China. These devices will succeed the Redmi K70 series. In recent days, new information has surfaced, so let’s dive into the details.
Redmi K80 Series code names leaked
According to a report from XiaomiTime, the Redmi K80 is codenamed “Zorn” and carries the model numbers 24122RKC7C for the Chinese market and 24122RKC7G for global regions. Meanwhile, the Redmi K80 Pro is codenamed “Miro,” with model numbers 24117RK2CC for China and 24117RK2CG for global markets.
The model numbers indicate that, in addition to the Chinese release, the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro could also debut globally in markets such as Turkey. However, the phones are not expected to launch in India. For reference, the Redmi K70 series was introduced in China and later rebranded, with minor modifications, as the Xiaomi 14T series for global markets.
Redmi K80 Series will get a price hike
In a Weibo post, Thomas Wang, General Manager of the Redmi brand, revealed that the Redmi K80 series will come with significant upgrades in both positioning and specifications. These improvements will not only enhance performance but also affect pricing. For context, the previous Redmi K70e, K70, and K70 Pro models were priced at CNY 1,999, CNY 2,499, and CNY 3,299, respectively. Therefore, it is expected that the K80 series will be priced higher than its predecessors.
