Apple is silently working on a new augmented reality (AR) glasses. The company may unveil it very soon and place it as a direct competitor to Meta’s AR glasses. This sudden refocus in the strategy is probably because the Cupertino tech giant is looking to outpace Meta in its race.

Apple might soon launch its own AR glasses

Popular tipster Mark Gurman in Bloomberg’s report claims that Apple is reportedly ramping up its plan to manufacture lightweight augmented reality (AR) glasses. Due to the high cost and pricing involved with the Vision Pro, the company is looking to go beyond the premium Vision Pro headset and focus on accessible wearable devices.

The report further mentions that the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has reportedly made the development of AR glasses his top product priority. The source reads, “Tim cares about nothing else. It’s the only thing he’s spending his time on from a product development standpoint.”

The upcoming AR glasses from Apple are tipped to be more affordable than the Vision Pro, which costs as much as $3,499. The headset will be both lightweight and in an accessible form factor. Since the device is still in the early development phase, there’s no major information available about it.
