- This is being done to avoid US tariff concerns.
- Alphabet Inc. has already done multiple rounds of talks related to this.
We all know about the rising global tension because of the recent reciprocal tariffs announced by President Donald Trump. Apple had reportedly shipped tons of iPhones to avoid taxes, and now, Google is planning to shift its Pixel production from Vietnam to India to minimise the effect of tariffs.
Google Pixel devices may soon be manufactured in India instead of Vietnam
As per a report by The Economic Times, Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, has reportedly conducted multiple rounds of talks with local manufacturers Foxconn and Dixon to move a certain part of its Pixel device manufacturing unit to India.
The firm has also requested the partners to source the components needed in the manufacturing process locally, instead of importing them, to avoid further costs.
As of right now, Google has already manufactured a good number of Pixel devices in India, and now, the metrics are going to rise further. It would be interesting to see if the new strategy will help them avoid more tariffs or not.
