HMD, the parent company of Nokia, has today announced that it will soon launch a new D2M smartphone in India. D2M stands for Direct-to-Mobile technology, which allows the user to access streaming services without needing an active internet connection or Wi-Fi.
HMD gears up for the launch of the D2M device in partnership with Free Stream Technologies
HMD has officially announced that the firm is launching a new D2M-powered smartphone in India. The device is being manufactured and developed in partnership with Free Stream Technologies and other companies.
Using the Direct-to-Mobile technology, the users will be able to stream OTT, live TV, other audio and video services, and text messages without the need for Wi-Fi or active internet. The official announcement of this will take place at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. The event will kick off on May 1st and will end on May 4th.
The company says that the upcoming device will feature a low-cost design to make it accessible to the masses. The device also comes ahead of the large scale field trials of the D2M tech in the country.
