The Indian Government is planning to take a deep look at the smartphone operating system and which types of Pre-installed apps are coming from the OEMs manufacturers. The Chinese smartphone manufacturers: Realme, OPPO, Xiaomi, Vivo who makes very big amount of revenue by putting the Third-party apps or bloatware now the Indian Government will soon pass the policies by which Smartphone OEMs have to give the right to the users to Uninstall the Third Party apps, Pre-installed apps or bloatware.
According to the reports by reuters, the Indian Government will delay the launch timeline of the device and the Indian Government will deeply monitor those smartphone manufacturers who put the third party apps or bloatware in their smartphone to check if they are following the rules or not.
India’s IT Ministry is planning in order to mandate that smartphone manufacturers have to allow their users to remove the Pre-installed apps from their device and maybe the Indian Government will do screening on smartphone OS before devices are available for sale in the market.
Reports also suggest the Indian Government is planning to stop the data theft, spying allegation according to an official who said “ Pre-installed apps can be a weak security point and we want to ensure no Foreign nations, including China, are exploiting it. It is a matter of national security.”
Impact on OEMs by this rule
In India Xiaomi and Realme are two most famous and both companies have 26% combined Indian Market share and the Chinese smartphone manufacturer inject the most third-party apps or bloatware to make or cover a big part of revenue and according to the Indian Government they will especially focus on China.
Almost every smartphone OEMs bundled a certain amount of Pre-Installed apps and they can’t be removed and Apple’s Safari browser, Samsung’s Samsung Pay Mini or Xiaomi’s Get app store are also included in it. According to the new order by the Indian Government Indian smartphone users now get the right to delete these types of apps from their smartphones.
Competition Commission of India (CCI) has fined Google of Rs 1,337 Crores for Pre-installing Google Search, Chrome and Youtube on android along with other charges.
