Apple will announce its own Wi-Fi chip with the iPhone 17 lineup
Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple is currently working on developing its own Wi-Fi chip. The company recently developed its own network model, the C1 modem, which was first seen on the iPhone 16e. This effectively cuts down the brand’s reliance on Qualcomm for modems.
The Cupertino tech giant now further wants to cut down the reliance on other brands and therefore it’s working on developing an in-house Wi-Fi chip. Until now, the company have used Wi-Fi chips of Broadcam.
Apple’s first in-house Wi-Fi chip will reportedly be featured on the iPhone 17 Air and not other devices in the lineup. The iPhone 17 series is expected to be launched later this year. We will also see the launch of the first even ‘Air’ lineup iPhone. Let’s wait for more official announcement regarding it.
