Flipkart is arguably the most used e-commerce platform in India. However, the company has been getting a lot of complaints from users for adding unnecessary fees to the order. The platform adds several fees like safe packaging fees and sales fee. And now, the platform is adding a new kind of charge to the order.
Flipkart starts adding a new Protect Promise fee on orders
As per a report, Flipkart has now started imposing new “Protect Promise” fees on the new orders. The fees are applicable on selected orders and include secure packaging and open-box delivery.
According to the brand, the new Protect Promise fees are meant to ensure the order’s safety. As the order travels through a long process and hubs before reaching its final destination, protecting it is crucial, and now the brand is asking for extra money for it.
The fees also cover the existing open box delivery scheme, where the delivery boy opens and verifies the package in front of the consumer before finally marking it delivered. Different categories of goods incur different charges. For big appliances, the user will have to pay the Protect Promise fee of Rs 49. For soundbars and other products, the user will have to pay Rs 29. For mid-range products, the fee is Rs 19, and for other small tech products, it is Rs 9.
