Instagram always brings new features to enhance the user experience with its innovative tools and features. There’s a report that Instagram is currently working on a new feature called ‘Community Chat’ which is similar to Discord community chat. This feature is in the testing phase and not released yet publicly, but it seems that Meta will announce this feature in near future. Here’s everything you need to know.

Instagram to roll out Community Chat feature soon

Instagram ‘Community Chat’ will allow users to organise people following their profile into small groups. Although you can interact with them in those groups.

As per Alessandro Paluzzi report, the community chat feature is identical to the Discord community chat. However, a screenshot of the feature shared on Threads by the developer, claiming that the ‘Community Chat’ allows users to create groups for up to 250 members at a time.

In the Community Chat feature, anyone will be able to join and interact with the messages shared by the specific user in the group itself. Additionally, anyone can connect with each other based on their interest in the community feature. Moreover, the community chats will be moderated by group or chat admins and they can remove any messages and members from the group to keep the chat secure and friendly.

The ‘Community Chat’ feature is currently in the testing phase, however, the brand hasn’t confirmed anything regarding the feature when it will be available publicly. One of the famous Instagram spokesperson (via Engadget) claimed that this feature is being tested internally at the moment without mentioning the official launch timeline. While the Community Chat is already present on Messenger which was announced before by Meta, so it may be possible that the brand will kick off this feature for Instagram as well.
