iPhone 16 with ChatGPT-like features and AI-enhanced Siri
“All iPhone 16 models will feature a substantial upgrade in microphone specifications,” claims Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He claims that in addition to having an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the microphones’ costs would increase by “roughly 100–150%.”
Using microphones is useful when we ask Siri to perform a task. Siri would be more aware if the microphones were better. It would respond more quickly and be able to hear us better.
The latest rumors suggest that Siri may soon be equipped with ChatGPT-like features, AIGC, or LLM, which could improve its responses. “Since voice input will be the primary interface for AI/AIGC/LLM on mobile phones, enhancing Siri’s hardware and software features and specifications is essential to advancing AIGC,” he writes in his post. It is expected that the enhanced Siri will be unveiled at WWDC 2024.
iPhone 16 is expected to have the same 6GB RAM as the iPhone 15
We find out that investment bank Mizuho Securities thinks the standard iPhone 16 models would have 6GB RAM like their predecessors from another post by leaker @Tech_Reve. The bank believes that only its clients would be responsible for paying for the additional RAM. Given their higher price, the Pro models might come with extra RAM.
Additionally, it believes that Apple does not have enough apps to match the additional RAM. On the other hand, Apple does appear to have some plans with the iPhone 16 and AI, as was covered in the preceding part.
Taking into account these sources, it appears that the iPhone 16 Pro models will be better equipped to support AIGC applications and on-device AI. We’ll find out eventually whether or not this conjecture is accurate.
