Apple May Include "Action Button" in iPhone 16 lineup

Apple recently unveiled the iPhone 15 series, which featured four different versions. The A16 Bionic chipset from last year was used in the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, while the A17 Pro was used in the Pro variants. Now, there are rumors circulating about the iPhone 16 series. Jeff Pu, a well-known Apple supply chain analyst, claims that the company will stop using outdated chipsets in its entry-level models.

Leaked information of  iPhone 16 series chipset

According to the most recent report, all iPhone 16 series handsets will have the newest A18 chipset. This indicates that Apple will stop using the base model’s chipset from the prior year.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, according to Jeff Pu’s research report with Haitong International Securities this week, will use a new A18 Bionic chipset. While the A18 Pro SoC will be found in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

With the introduction of the A17 Pro this year, Apple officially abandoned the Bionic name. Since the iPhone 16 series won’t launch for another year, anything might happen.

Pu expects that in addition to the naming scheme, the processor of the following year will feature major improvements. The N3E second generation 3nm chipset process from TSMC will be used to create the A18 chipset.

In comparison to the older N3B 3nm technology, the new CPU is thought to be both more inexpensive and efficient. The A17 Pro processor, which powers the iPhone 15 Pro models, was manufactured using the N3B process.

Regarding Apple leaks, Jeff Pu has generally proven to be reliable. He was the first to predict that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will cost more than its predecessor and feature 8GB of RAM.
