iPhone 17 series is expected to hit the market September this year. We may get to see a new thin and lightweight iPhone in the series. Anyway, even before the iPhone 17 series is official, we’ve started hearing about the leaks and rumours of iPhone 18. A recent report suggests that the iPhone 18 will see a price hike because of the new Apple’s upgraded chipset.
iPhone 18 will see a price hike following the new 2nm chipset
Popular tipster Digital Chat Station has shared some insights about the upcoming iPhone 18 on his Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. As per the post, the iPhone 18 series will use the all-new A20 chipset which will be based on 2 nanometer finfet technology, down from the current 3 nanometer node.
This would allow the brand to pack more transistors into the same space. Therefore, the overall performance and power efficiency of the iPhone may also see a major boost.
However, it’s not all blue and the upgrade comes at a cost. The tipster says that the cost of this chipset is going to increase significantly and will therefore result in ‘another round of price increase for the new iPhone’. By the word ‘another round’, he’s probably referring to the upcoming price hike in the iPhone 17 series because of the ongoing tariffs and political tensions.
