Meta has introduced significant updates to Instagram aimed at improving privacy and safety for its younger users. This new feature is branded as Instagram Teen Accounts.
What are Instagram Teen Accounts?
As part of the update, Instagram will automatically set all teen accounts to private by default. This means that younger users will only be able to receive messages and be tagged by people they follow or have previously interacted with. Additionally, the update strengthens privacy controls, including the ability to limit exposure to sensitive content. Users under 16 will need parental approval to change these default settings.
Parents will also have access to new tools to manage their children’s app usage and monitor their activity. Another key feature is the introduction of daily usage limits. Instagram will now notify users under 18 to take a break after 60 minutes of app usage, promoting healthier screen time habits.
