Samsung Galaxy S21 series won’t get monthly updates
Samsung has stopped providing monthly security updates for its Galaxy S21 lineup of devices. All the devices, the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra will now get quarterly security updates instead of monthly.
The company has silently updated the security updates page of the Galaxy S21 series (spotted by 9To5Google). The page had promised monthly updates for the devices, which has now changed to quarterly updates. This means that the devices will not get a total of four security updates in a year, instead of twelve.
Since the devices are scheduled to be marked as end-of-life (EOL) next year, and the brand plans to release one update every three months, we can expect 4 to 5 additional security updates for the device before it reaches the end of its software support. This change only applies to the S21 series devices; the FE variant will not be affected.
