  • The Indian Mobile Congress served as the official launchpad for JioSpaceFiber (IMC).
  • Jio’s internet connectivity via satellite is claimed to offer speeds comparable to fiber.
  • JioSpaceFiber is currently accessible in four isolated areas of the nation.

Dependency At the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC), Jio today stated that it had successfully tested “JioSpaceFiber,” India’s first mega fiber service based on satellite. People in remote locations with weak or nonexistent cellular connectivity can nevertheless access the internet thanks to satellite-based broadband services.

JioSpaceFiber satellite-based internet connectivity

Jio has teamed up with the Luxembourg-based Société Européenne des Satellites (SES) to offer satellite-based fiber service via its medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites, O3b and O3b mPOWER. It claimed that this is the only MEO constellation capable of delivering rapid broadband services from space that resemble fiber. At the moment, SES has more than 70 satellites in two distinct orbits.

The telecom provider continues, stating that SES is the only business in the market that “offers game-changing technology, providing scalable and affordable broadband across all of India with a level of guaranteed reliability and service flexibility that is a first in the industry.”

“Jio has made it possible for millions of Indian homes and companies to use broadband internet for the first time. We extend our reach to include the millions of people who are still unconnected with JioSpaceFiber. At the introduction, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited Chairman Akash Ambani stated, “JioSpaceFiber will enable everyone, everywhere, to fully participate in the new digital society with gigabit access to online government, education, health, and entertainment services.”

JioSpaceFiber availability

JioSpaceFiber would be offered at “extremely affordable prices” across the nation, according to the telecom company. Four of the most isolated places in India currently have JioSpaceFiber available: Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chattisgarh, Nabarangpur in Odisha, and ONGC Jorhat in Assam. Plans for the nationwide rollout of Jio’s satellite-based fiber service have not yet been disclosed. Although JioSpaceFiber’s inexpensive plans have previously been verified, prices have not yet been disclosed.

With its 5G services and broadband fiber services already operational nationwide, JioSpaceFiber is the telco’s most recent endeavor. Demonstrations of Jio’s satellite-based internet connectivity in action are fascinating, particularly in the nation’s most isolated regions.
