As per the directions of TRAI, the largest telecom player in India, Jio has introduced new voice-only plans. These plans are aimed to cater for the audience who either uses a keypad phone or has a secondary sim that usually doesn’t need an extra data pack.

Jio Launches Two New Voice-Only Plans in India

Jio has launched two new voice-only plans in India, as ordered by the Telecom Regulatory. One plan costs Rs. 458 while the other costs Rs 1,958. The former plan has a total validity of 84 days and offers unlimited voice calls and 1,000 free-of-cost SMS. While the latter offers 365 days of validity with unlimited voice calls and a total of 3,600 free-of-cost SMS.

While the new plans can be a good option for users looking for non-data plans, a tipster on X (Twitter) claims that other plans that come with an in-built data pack may get costlier. He claims that the older plan priced at Rs 479 might see a price hike and the new price would be Rs. 539. Another plan worth Rs 1,899 is also tipped to see a price revision, and the new price is said to be Rs 2,249.

Telecom operators in India have recently increased the prices of popular plans, and the coming hike (if true) seems unjustified. Let’s see if TRAI will take action on this issue.
