Samsung is rumored to unveil its Galaxy S25 lineup on January 22nd, featuring the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Although the company has yet to make an official announcement, leaks and rumors continue to surface daily. The latest reports suggest a potential price hike for the Galaxy S25 series, attributed to the use of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon chipset.
Samsung Galaxy S25 series price hike
All three models in the Galaxy S25 lineup, the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, are expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, moving away from Samsung’s in-house Exynos chips.
Qualcomm relies on TSMC as its key manufacturing partner for producing the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. TSMC is reportedly planning to increase prices for its 5nm and 3nm fabrication processes by up to 10% in 2025, driven by strong demand fueled by AI advancements. This cost hike could lead Qualcomm to charge higher prices to its customers, including Samsung, ultimately impacting the final pricing of consumer devices.
According to reports, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is expected to power the Galaxy S25 series, could cost as much as USD 190 (around Rs 16,260) per unit. This represents a significant increase compared to previous generations of Snapdragon chips, potentially contributing to higher retail prices for the Galaxy S25 lineup.
