CCPA of Govt. of India sends notice to Ola and Uber for showing different ride prices in iOS and Android

Multiple posts on various social media platforms blame Ola and Uber for showing different ride prices in Android and iOS. Following these reports, the Government of India has sent a notice to both Ola and Uber for charging their rides differently for the same vehicle type and same distance based on the phones that user uses.

The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs has confirmed this on his X (Twitter) account. He says that the government is seeking a response from both the aggregators in the matter.

After receiving the notice, Uber promptly responded, “We do not set prices based on rider phone manufacturers. We look forward to working with the Central Consumer Protection Authority to clear up any misunderstanding.” Uber has denied the charges, but let’s see if we see any major updates on the case in the future.
