WhatsApp can now be used as the default messaging and calling app on iPhones
To use WhatsApp as the default app for messaging and calling, the users would have to be on the latest version of iOS, i.e. iOS 18.2 and above. The version of WhatsApp must be v25.8.74.
If you are already on the latest version, then you can set WhatsApp as the default messaging app by going into Settings >> Apps >> Default Apps >> Messaging >> Select “WhatsApp”. For calling, follow similar steps and choose “Calling” instead of Messaging.
That’s it. WhatsApp will now open as the default app for both messaging and calling. Future calls and messages can now be done directly from WhatsApp. Tapping on the call buttons will now open WhatsApp instead of the usual iOS dialer.
