Delayed updates were one of the most raised concerns by the users of Xiaomi devices. However, the brand later acknowledged it and said that the HyperOS 2 will fix this issue. It is guaranteed that they will work on making the update available to devices ASAP. Anyway, the firm has now introduced a new 1+3+8 update policy in China.
What is the new 1+3+8 update policy introduced by Xiaomi?
The new update policy introduced by Xiaomi for its devices shows its commitment towards delivering better and more frequent software updates. The 1+3+8 update policy breaks down the number and type of updates that a device will get on an annual basis.
The digit 1 represents a single major update, the 3 represents feature-focused updates and 8 represents security patch updates. In a nutshell, Xiaomi promises to give at least one major update, three feature-focused updates and eight security updates to the eligible devices annually.
The new policy, for now, is only limited to the Chinese variant of Xiaomi devices. However, there are strong chance that we may get the same policy in the overseas Xiaomi devices very soon. We can expect an official announcement on the same in the coming days.
