HIGHLIGHTS
- Zuckerberg is spending billions on AI investments in a major push.
- Competition with TikTok, Adobe, Snap is fierce as AI explodes.
- An ‘evolved’ Meta AI is among the ‘more than 20 ways’ being tested by Meta.
The Meta messaging platform, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has revealed that it is experimenting with “over 20 methods” to employ generative artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the user experience across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
“This year has been amazing for AI at Meta…We are excited about what artificial intelligence (AI) will bring in 2019—particularly the developments in speech, multimodality, and content creation—which will allow us to offer new, imaginative, and engaging applications. The IT behemoth said in a press release, “Today, we’re sharing updates to some of our core AI experiences and new capabilities you can discover across our family of apps.”
A “developed” Meta AI
With more precise search result summaries and more thorough responses on mobile devices, the company’s virtual assistant is now more beneficial.
In order to communicate with the virtual assistant, users must first initiate a new message, choose “Create an AI chat” from Meta’s messaging applications, or type “@MetaAI” into a group chat before stating their needs.
Reimagine
This is a new Meta AI function for Instagram and Messenger. When a buddy presses and holds on an image in a group chat, Meta AI will create and share the original image that the user requested. When the friend replies with a simple text message, Meta AI will create a completely new image.
Reels
This allows users to find and interact with fresh information using Reels, which are visual representations of the text. For instance, while arranging a trip with friends, simply ask Meta AI to suggest the top destinations, then exchange Reels of the most impressive locations to choose which sights are a must-see.
Helping creators respond to fans
As a result, when Instagram creators open direct messages in their DMs, the assistant—Meta AI—will begin working in the background to compose appropriate responses that should be taken into account, keeping tone and content in mind.
Use ‘Imagine’ outside Meta AI
The text-to-image creation tool that was previously only available within conversations is now being extended to other platforms. Imagine is now available solely in the United States at imagine.meta.com.
Chatting with AIs
Although Bing-powered responses have been provided by two of Meta’s sports-related AIs, Perry and Bru, the feature will now be accessible with other AIs, including Coco, Izzy, Jade, Lorena, and Luiz. People will be asked to pick up where they left off on a specific AI project as another test of their abilities.
More is on the way
In order to guarantee greater traceability and transparency, the social media behemoth will be adding invisible watermarking to Imagine in the upcoming weeks. Additionally, it maintains that red teaming has been a part of company culture “for years” and will keep investing in it.
