In conjunction with the introduction of the Pixel 8 series and Pixel Watch 2 at the Made by Google 2023 event, Google published the stable update of Android 14. Initially intended to launch in September, Google delayed it back for an unknown reason. Now that it has here, let’s look at its main features, the devices it is compatible with, and how to download it to your phone.
Features of Android 14
There are numerous new features in Android 14. The whole Android experience has been improved by a number of subtle and significant changes at the OS and surface levels.
Monochrome theme
You can give your phone a completely minimalist look by setting this black-and-white theme throughout the OS.
AI Wallpapers
On your Android phone, you can get AI-generated wallpapers through pre-set alternatives (as prompts).
Customizing the lock screen
On the lockscreen, you can now use app shortcuts and modify the fonts, colors, formats, and widgets of this screen.
Ultra HDR
Android 14 will display on-device images and movies in HDR quality on some handsets with HDR-capable displays.
Webcam on an Android phone
Simply use a USB cord to link your phone to a PC or laptop, then use the Android 14-powered phone’s camera as a webcam for the larger device.
There are numerous additional features, the most of which were present in earlier beta releases. The most recent version is already available, though. This is how you obtain it
How to get Android 14 installed on your phone
- Launch the Settings app on any supported devices.
- Scroll down and select System.
- After that, select System update.
- Either way, the update will be there and ready for you. If not, select Check for update.
- Download and install the Android 14 update when you see it.
This step needs a restart of your device. You will be able to use Android 14 on your device once it finally boots. Now, not all devices will immediately receive the Android 14 update. The ones that back it are as follows:
