With a brand-new app named “Nothing Chats,” nothing made it feasible to communicate with iPhone customers. However, the joy was short-lived when the app was withdrawn because of purported privacy concerns. Fear not, though, since there’s still new software available on the Play Store that allows you to iMessage iPhone users.

Beeper Mini app — iMessage for Android

You can text iMessage subscribers using Beeper Mini, a new messaging app from startup Beeper, without switching to an iPhone. The feature that sets this app apart from others for Android and iPhone users is its support for blue bubbles. You must pay Rs 130 per month in India to use Beeper Mini, although it isn’t free. To test it out before downloading the app, though, it does provide a seven-day free trial.

Beeper Mini: features, how to use

  • To begin using Beeper Mini, download the app from the Google Play Store. You will need to link your phone number to iMessage and log in using your Google account.
  • Using your Apple ID to log in to the app is another option. We experimented with a phone number and a Google account.
  • With merely a chat layout, a shortcut button for starting a new chat, and a search bar at the top, the app’s user interface is rather basic. Your profile icon is located right next to the settings button, which is on top.
  • You have the option to modify your profile’s name and DP in addition to selecting the app’s light or dark appearance.
  • We tested the app’s texting functionality on iPhone users, and it functions as planned. The messages are sent to iMessage, where you may also share contacts, files, locations, movies, images, and emoticons. Moreover, you can initiate group chats and send voice recordings to other iPhone users.
  • The user’s experience will be similar to messaging another iPhone user. Even when the Android user is typing a message, it displays the typing indicator. Thus, the app is less about the visual experience and more on cross-platform functionality. However, it’s a fun method to fool folks into thinking you’re texting from an iPhone.

Beeper Mini features

How is it possible?

This was made feasible by Beeper’s reverse engineering of the iMessage protocol. Thus, unlike all the other apps, Beeper Mini uses a Mac Mini located in a data center as a relay instead of a Mac server. And when you send a message, it really goes to the Mac Mini, which transmits it to iMessage,” TechCrunch cited Eric Migicovsky, co-founder and CEO of Beeper, as adding.

Moreover, Beeper Mini messages are end-to-end encrypted, making it impossible for Apple or Beeper to view your correspondence. This was a significant problem with Nothing Chats because reviews indicated that the program was not truly end-to-end encrypted as stated. However, Apple plans to add RCS functionality to iMessage in the upcoming year, making it simpler for Android users to text iPhone users. That distinction will remain, though, as it won’t produce blue bubbles.
