- Apple unleashed a bunch of new Mac devices in the Apple “Scary Fast” event.
- Apple launched the new MacBook Pro devices with M3 Chips.
- Take a look at the price, specifications and availability of MacBook Pro.
Apple has revealed the first batch of Mac laptops to use the new silicon, as well as the next generation of M3 CPUs. The M3 chip set includes three new 3-nanometer-based chips: the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. Apple’s 2023 models of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops as well as the iMac all-in-one desktop are powered by the new CPUs. Remarkably, after the announcement, the 13-inch MacBook Pro was removed from the lineup.

Apple M3 series Chip features
The recently released gadgets share the same appearance and texture as the products from the prior generation. This year, Apple expanded the MacBook Pro lineup to include a new “space black” option, although it’s limited to the M3 Pro and M3 Max models. For example, the six-speaker system with dynamic head tracking, studio-quality three-mic array, and 1080p camera remains unchanged. The internal components of these gadgets are undergoing significant changes, particularly in terms of graphics. Together with mesh shading, the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max allow hardware-accelerated ray tracing for the first time on Mac.
According to Apple, the M3’s central processing unit, or CPU, can provide the “same multithreaded performance as M1 using as little as half the power, and up to 35 percent more performance at peak power,” while the GPU, or graphics processing unit, can achieve up to 65 percent faster performance at its peak. While the powerful new media engine supports AOMedia Video 1 or AV1 decoding for more effective streaming service playback, the neural engine is claimed to be up to 60% quicker (0ver M1). Apple claims that its new silicon will allow products like the 16-inch MacBook Pro to run on a 22-hour battery life even with all the performance enhancements.
MacBook Pro Specifications
The M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chipset, which are new to Apple, power all of the company’s MacBook Pro models. Up to 128GB of RAM can be installed on the company’s top-tier M3 Max processor, which is the maximum RAM capacity available for laptops to date. In the meantime, machines with M3 and M3 Pro CPUs have RAM options of up to 24GB and 36GB, respectively.
These are the second batch of MacBook Pro models that Apple has released this year; in January, the company introduced new models with M2 processors. The new chips have up to 16 CPU cores, up to 40 GPU cores, and up to 16 Neural Engine cores. They are built on TSMC’s 3nm process technology. There are laptops with SSD storage capacities of up to 1TB available. According to Apple, the new M3 Pro chip outperforms the previous generation of MacBook Pro models with Intel Core i7 CPUs by up to 40 times and by up to 11 times, respectively.
Apple has emphasized the GPU improvements on the new 3nm chips, such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and a new Dynamic Caching feature that enables the GPU on the M3 chip to allocate a precise amount of local memory to optimize memory usage for tasks, even though the new M3 lineup offers only slight CPU improvements over the previous generation.
The new MacBook Pro models from Apple come with 14- and 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR (3,024×1,964 pixel) displays that have a peak brightness of 1600 nits (HDR content) and 600 nits (SDR content) with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It features a backlit keyboard that accepts Touch ID for fingerprint identification.
MacBook features Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, up to three Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 ports, a MagSafe 3 charging port, an SDXC card reader, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are among the connectivity choices available on the new MacBook Pro models. It is stated that the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro can run on a single charge for up to 22 hours, whereas the M3 Pro and M3 Max variants can run on a single charge for up to 18 hours. The bigger 16-inch MacBook Pro model with M3 Pro and M3 Max CPUs has a battery life of up to 22 hours.
